Staplegrove is located in the county of Somerset, South West England, one mile north-west of the town of Taunton, 23 miles south of the major town of Weston-Super-Mare, 31 miles south of Cardiff, and 134 miles west of London. Staplegrove lies six miles north-east of the Devon border. Staplegrove falls within the district council of Taunton Deane, under the county council of Somerset. It is in the TA2 postcode district. The post town for Staplegrove is Taunton.

Points of Interest

The parish of Staplegrove is situated in the northern suburbs of Taunton. The parish, largely built by Monsell Youell Construction Ltd in the 1970s, has a population of 1,889.

Things to See

Bishops Lydeard Mill is a great historial attraction to visit with the kids, situated 3 miles from Staplegrove. It is a must see! It has a working watermill, a preserved Wheelright’s shop, a café and so much more. 

Places to eat

The plough Inn - The plough inn has a rustic country pub in town feel with a twist with three floors and a secret bookshelf door. Real Ales, craft ales, gins are their specialty.  Dog friendly, chatty knowledgeable happy staff, open mic performances, a roaring open fire, bashed up leather furniture, upright piano, weekly quiz nights, 70’s themed Disco nights and much more.

Of course, being in close proximity to Taunton town centre means you are never far away from the cuisine of your choice

Things to do

For those with young children, Aj'z Play and Party Centre is close by.  It is a lovely bright and colourful play centre with a huge play frame for kids aged 4 years and older, a dedicated area for children younger than 4 years, plus a café, free WIFI, and a large free car park. So while the kids play, you can relax too!.

For something more adventurous why not explore the local area with Channel Adventure Taunton? You can channel your inner adventurer by canoeing, paddle boarding or kayaking on the River Tone.  If you prefer dry land adventure Channel Adventure Taunton also offer fully secure tree climbing, you can join the kids and re-live the carefree memories of your tree-climbing youth. 

Or if its walking you enjoy, then you will love the Hunt Fun Taunton Trail. Start at the visitor centre.  From here stroll along the river Tone, pay a visit to St James Church and then walk on to enjoy the historic county museum.  Kids will have screen free time and brush off some cobwebs outside in the fresh air.
